HONEY BADGERS ANNOUNCE FRANCHISE RECORD ATTENDANCE OF 4,068 AT 2ND ANNUAL SCHOOL DAY GAME

Kyle Warrener • June 5, 2024

The Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced a franchise record attendance of 4,068 at the club’s 2nd Annual School Day Game on Wednesday against the Winnipeg Sea Bears. The game tipped off at 11 a.m. ET.

In collaboration with the Peel School Board and Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board, the Honey Badgers and CAA Centre welcomed staff and students from 27 schools across Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga.

“This is a direct result of the relationships we have built and continue to create across the region,” said Josie Pingitore, Vice President of the Honey Badgers. “We are thrilled that so many staff and students could join us today to celebrate a fantastic school year and witness a professional basketball game between the Sea Bears and Honey Badgers.”

Wednesday’s attendance surpasses the previous record of 3,451 set last July when Brampton hosted Scarborough on what the City of Brampton proclaimed “We Are Brampton” day. In a game  televised nationally on TSN, the Honey Badgers clinched a playoff berth with a 103-86 victory against the Shooting Stars.

Brampton hosted their inaugural School Day Game almost one year ago on June 7, earning an 89-64 win in front of 3,435 fans at the CAA Centre.

Both league and individual team attendance records continue to be shattered in the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s sixth season. The Calgary Surge and Edmonton Stingers launched the 2024 campaign on May 22 in front of the largest single-game crowd in league history as 12,327 fans filed into Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.

Brampton Honey Badgers season tickets, ultimate voucher packages, and single-game tickets are available now to witness the best of Canadian professional basketball this summer. For more information contact a Honey Badgers representative at
