JERMAINE ANDERSON

General Manager & Vice President of Basketball Operations

Jermaine Anderson enters his sixth season leading the Honey Badgers after being promoted to general manager and vice president of basketball operations ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Since being appointed general manager in December 2019, the Honey Badgers have accumulated a 43-43 (.500) overall record, featuring four consecutive CEBL Playoff appearances (2020-23), two CEBL Championship Weekend appearances (2020, 2022), and a CEBL Championship in 2022.

During Anderson’s time with the organization, 10 players have elevated their careers to the NBA G League with four players having signed contracts with NBA clubs, in addition, six members of the coaching staff have also joined the NBA ranks. Since 2020, 75 of the 96 players who have worn the black and gold pinstripes have played professionally around the world in the fall following the season, not including six players who returned to their respective university basketball programs.

In 2022, Anderson’s Honey Badgers posted a league-best 14-6 record and won the franchise’s first CEBL Championship with a 90-88 win over the Scarborough Shooting Stars at TD Place Arena in Ottawa. That victory earned the Honey Badgers the right to represent Canada in FIBA’s prestigious Basketball Champions League Americas, during the winter of 2022-23.

After he was appointed general manager with the Honey Badgers in December 2019, Anderson spent the CEBL off-season as a player development coach with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association from 2019-22.

A highly respected mainstay with Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team from 2004-18, Anderson earned the nickname “Rock” for being a stabilizing leader as point guard and team captain for 14 years, including more than 80 international games. He also played 11 seasons across Europe where his journey took him to 15 teams in eight countries. Off the court, he secured funding and sponsorships to implement youth programs in some of those cities.

Following his playing career, Anderson became a player development coach for Canada Basketball, handling player relations duties that ensured players had access to training facilities and health care across Canada.

An Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute graduate, Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing while playing at Fordham University. He averaged 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 30.2 minutes in 111 games during a four-year tenure with the Rams.

He earned a master’s of business administration degree from the Ted Rogers School of Business at Ryerson University in 2019. In 2016 he earned his CSC in Finance from the Canadian Securities Institute.

In 2018, Anderson founded the Fifty For Free Youth Community Initiative, a not-for-profit organization based in Toronto and Halifax focused on building character, cultivating financial literacy, and developing basketball skills with youth from underserved communities. The program has brought together hundreds of students and more than 50 mentors to laugh, learn and play together, creating lifelong bonds at no cost to the students or their families. Over the course of several months, each participant benefits from workshops that address credit, real estate, taxes, budgeting, investing, and more.
