HONEY BADGERS PARTNER WITH BRAMPTON MINOR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

Kyle Warrener • June 6, 2024

The Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday that they have officially partnered with the Brampton Minor Basketball Association, one of the largest youth sports organizations in Ontario dating back to 1979.

Brampton Minor Basketball Association has been serving the community for decades and this year is celebrating its 45th anniversary. Over the years, numerous alumni have played in the NCAA, U SPORTS, WNBA, NBA G League, NBA, and the CEBL, including R.J. Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Laeticia Amihere and Shay Colley.

“This is an extremely important partnership for our organization,” said Chris Rodricks, senior director of business operations for the Brampton Honey Badgers. “Leslie and Brampton Minor Basketball Association as a whole have welcomed us to the city with open arms since we arrived. We’re excited to continue working together to grow the sport here in Brampton and inspire the next generation of young basketball players to achieve their dreams.”

This partnership continues to align a passion for establishing Brampton as a basketball hub regionally and nationally while increasing collaborative efforts in the community at numerous events in our city. Several members of the BMBA, including players, coaches, and families were in attendance on May 24 when the Honey Badgers defeated the Niagara River Lions to tip off the 2024 season at the CAA Centre.

“The Brampton Minor Basketball Association is thrilled to be partnering with the Honey Badgers for another year,” said Leslie Johnson-Carmichael, president of Brampton Minor Basketball Association. “Together, this partnership brings greater awareness to the sport, and provides an opportunity for our Brampton youth to dream big. The Honey Badgers have been strong supporters of much of the BMBA programming over the last two years, and we're grateful for the opportunity to continue on this journey together.”

The Honey Badgers 2024 season continues at the CAA Centre with a three-game homestand beginning June 5 against the Winnipeg Sea Bears in the club’s second annual School Day Game. Season tickets, ultimate voucher packages, and single-game tickets are available now to witness the best of Canadian professional basketball this summer.
