The Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Wednesday their basketball operations staff ahead of this week’s training camp. 

The group of coaches and training staff features a mix of new and familiar faces to the Honey Badgers organization, bringing a blend of significant experience from numerous CEBL and U SPORTS programs. 

General manager and vice president of basketball operations, Jermaine Anderson, enters a fifth consecutive season with the Honey Badgers, making him the longest-serving current member of the organization. 

The Honey Badgers promoted Sheldon Cassimy as the fourth head coach in franchise history in early March with hopes of improving upon last year’s 8-12 regular season record. Cassimy has been a member of the Honey Badgers coaching staff since the CEBL Summer Series in 2020 under the guidance of Ryan Schmidt and Antoine Broxsie.

“Our organization has always been committed to the development of players, coaches, and staff,” said Sheldon Cassimy, head coach and assistant general manager for the Brampton Honey Badgers. “Everyone on our staff is incredible at what they do, but they are also great individuals and people in the community. I’m excited for the potential we have as a staff to do some amazing things this summer.”

Thomas Cory joins the Honey Badgers staff as a lead assistant coach this summer, following another season as head coach of the Nipissing University men’s basketball program. 

Mike Fraser and Christian Bentley return to their assistant coach duties for a second season in Brampton. Fraser averaged 5.8 points and 7.4 rebounds in 18 games for the Honey Badgers during the CEBL’s Inaugural Season in 2019, and holds numerous single-game records in rebounding and blocked shots.
