Frequently Asked Questions
A year ago, the Canadian Elite Basketball League led the NHL, NBA and later the CPL in returning to play in Canada after the coronavirus shut down the sports world in March. The single-site CEBL Summer Series in St. Catharines, Ont., put professional basketball on the television and digital screens of millions of viewers across Canada and around the world, establishing the CEBL as the top Canadian-based global team sports brand and ensuring that 2020 was a tremendous success for the CEBL!
But that meant we didn’t have the opportunity to play in our home arena in front of you, our fans. We are coming home for the 2021 season, and with the benefit of regular consultation with government and health officials in all seven of our league cities, the CEBL has created the regular season schedule in a way that provides the best possible chance to have fans in the stands when the season tips off.
For 2021 the CEBL will push back the start of the season from mid-May to June 5 to accommodate the possibility of fans being able to attend the greatest number of games. The league cannot push the season beyond a late-August playoff finish because most of our players must report to their international pro teams by September. That means we will be playing a 14 rather than a 20-game regular season this summer.
If your past purchase of season tickets or flex packs is presently on account with us, the CEBL has created an innovative way to protect your investment and give you absolute flexibility to decide when you want to attend games in person.
If you purchased season tickets for the 2020 or 2021 seasons and have left your tickets on account, you have already received benefits that include:

We’re excited to be able to play in our home arena this season! The goal has been to have as many fans as possible be able to see as many games as possible in a safe manner during the 2021 season. With the recent news of considerably more vaccines being available in the spring, if we could push our season back three weeks it increases the chances that government leaders will allow people to be able to attend games.
The majority of our players play professionally overseas or in the NBA G League during the months of the traditional basketball season. Most must leave our teams to join their other teams by the end of August, so pushing back the season isn’t an option.
These decisions will be made by our Premier and the regulations put in place around indoor gatherings. It’s likely we won’t know much before our first home game. In the meantime we are preparing to be able to welcome fans back to our games in every way. Plans are being developed with our venue in order to safely accomodate fans as well as the development of socially distanced seating manifest.
There is no obligation to use tickets in 2021. Our ticket protection plan alleviates anyone from feeling pressured to have to use their tickets this summer if they’re not comfortable doing so. Your tickets have been reserved for you for the 2022 season. If at any point this summer you would like to attend a game, simply let us know and we will draw the number of tickets you would like to use from your account and apply them toward this summer’s game or games. If you use some but not all of your tickets this season, the remainder will remain on account and get applied to the same ticket package for 2022.
To speak to a representative about your ticket options, please contact us at info@honeybadgers.ca prior to the beginning of the season on June 5th, 2021.
No problem. Simply let us know how many tickets you would like drawn from your 2022 ticket allotment for which game, and we will be happy to accommodate you. If we have to activate our socially distanced seating menifes, there may be a limited quantity of tickets available. Certain seating locations will be redeemed on a first-come first-serve basis.
These benefits will be extended to all ticketholders through August of 2022.
Details of health and safety protocols will be finalized at a later date. We will inform you of those protocols when they become available.
We cannot guarantee the exact same seats because of social distancing protocols that we expect this season, but every effort will be made to seat you as close as possible to your first preference for seating. We are developing a socially distanced seating manifest to ensure compliance with government regulations and create as safe of an environment as possible.
Season tickets, flex packs, and deposits on season tickets are available for sale now, and all are covered by our ticket protection plan. After it becomes clear which games we will be allowed to have fans in the stands, we will be able to discuss individual game tickets. Please reference our ticket protection plan above for all the information regarding your options.
Yes, once again this season all of our games—home and road—will be televised on CBC or livestreamed on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca, and the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices. The CEBL is partnering with StreamAMG to launch an OTT platform that will stream all games live and archive them.
